WordPress is a great platform for a website and provides a lot of functionality out of the box. One thing you would expect it to do is to provide a facility to add an author image. After all the profile pages show the usual placeholder for your profile.
Basically it doesnt. At least not straight out of the box. There is however a very simple plugin to add this functionality to your site.. The Author Image plugin ads an additional field to the profile area of any user allowing you to easily associate a profile photo by accessing the edit user page.
Some Themes will already have an implementation for this to show the profile image, and while you may need a little coding knowledge if your theme doesnt support author pages, there are easily available shortcodes to use on any blog post to show the author photo and / or thumbnail images.
